"By the age of twelve, Jason was performing professionally..." |
Jason Latimer has been performing the art of magic since the tender age
of nine. By the age of twelve, Jason was performing professionally for birthdays
and numerous party events. He soon became the regular magician at a small
entertainment venue in town and quickly began to catch the eyes of those
around him as well as by the surrounding community. Then after all of Latimer’s
constant studies of numerous books and videos Jason became a member of the
famous Academy of Magical Arts Junior Program. The Junior Program accepts
young magicians, by audition, to work with and to guide as they help each
student hone their skills and performance levels. If the students continue
their interest through the meetings and lectures, they graduate at the age
of twenty to become official magicians of the world famous Magic Castle
in Hollywood, CA. In 2001, Jason received the highest award possible for
the students of the Junior Program the Award of Outstanding Achievement
in “recognition of his pursuit for originality and perfection in the art
of magic.”

At the age of 18 he became one of the youngest performers
ever to be given their own headlining week at the Magic
Castle, an exclusive dinner and show club for adults 21
and older, in Hollywood, CA. Latimer's awards and performances
at the Magic Castle landed him a slot in Las Vegas, NV.
And by the age 20, Jason was performing in Las Vegas,
NV. as one of the opening acts for the Amazing Johnathan
show at the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino. In January
of 2003, Jason participated in the World Magic Seminar
Stage Contest, hosted by Siegfried and Roy in Las Vegas,
NV. There Jason performed in front of one of the largest
gatherings of magicians in the United States. After his
performance, Latimer was presented with the prized S.A.R.M.O.T.I.
(Siegfried And Roy Masters Of The Impossible) Award for
the "Most Up and Coming New Talent." And six
months later, representing the United States, Jason traveled
to the Netherlands to participate in the World Championships
of Magic. He wished to compete in multiple categories
to demonstrate his originality and diverse abilities in
all the fields of magic.

"And on that day, Jason became the third American in
history to be awarded the Grand Prix of magic." |
| Over the last couple of years Jason had been secretly
preparing a special routine that would catch the world
by surprise. He took the classical street effect of Cups
and Balls to the next level, as he performed the Cups
and Balls effect with clear glass cups. An astounding
effect that Jason had created from scratch where audience
members can visually witness balls vanish and appear from
within an upside down glass. At the end of his performance
the audience of the World Championships of Magic rose
to their feet in a standing ovation. All of his hard work
and dedication to the art of magic had paid off with their
enthusiasm and applaud. And on July 26, 2003 Jason was
awarded the title “Grand Prix World Champion of Magic.”
And on that day, Jason became the third American in history
to be awarded the Grand Prix of magic. Latimer now joined
the names of world famous close-up performer Johnny Ace
Palmer and world famous stage magician Lance Burton of
the Monte Carlo Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV. Knowing
this is only the beginning…Latimer hopes his continued
success is no illusion… |
